1. Plastic parts – The body of the gland is a special variant
of Nylon 66 which has a similar strength to aluminium, the upper temperature tolerance is 200oC constant.
  
This hybrid variant is some 30% stronger than standard Nylon 66. The material is also UV resistant.

2. Metal parts The metal is galvanized steel, this is because standard SWA armour is galvanized steel and most panels are galvanized or painted steel, so, minimum use of dissimilar metals negates galvanic reaction and electrolysis

3. Captive parts – The cone, incisor ring and the seal driver interface spinner are all retained. No loose parts make installation safer and easier.


4. Armour trap – The incisor ring driven by the plastic ‘driver’ housing does not share the driver energy along a normal wedge olive but instead concentrates the energy into two grip ring positions, the sharp edges of the steel incisor ring ‘bite’  the cable armouring. Even hand tight is enough to physically retain the armouring (we advocate tightening with grips or wrench)

5. Anti gnarl system – The rotary action of the driver housing is converted into linear push of the incisor ring without ‘ring against armour’ rotation due to the incisor ring being free spinning (R0.4 v R0.5) in the plastic housing retainer groove.
This system prevents gnarling/twisting of the SWA armouring during installation.

Minimum panel intrusion (20S only) – Small SWA cables (10-16mm) are often fitted in to small boxes/panels where there is little space, the BITE 20S reverse fits with a male threaded anchor nut reducing the panel intrusion to a mere 5mm.

6. Automatic grounding system – The anchor nut has steel teeth so that it bites past painted surfaces during the rotation of the anchor mechanism. On painted surfaces we advocate tightening and loosening a quarter turn several times to be sure of good grounding (this should take about 5 seconds). The installation engineer must satisfy himself that the Armour/panel continuity is achieved.

Note: we do not advocate the use of armouring as the power safety earth without proper consideration by the installation engineer.
